Nobody wants to deal with a sunburn. Mild sunburns usually heal in three to five days, but more severe burns can take a few weeks. Healing time depends on your genetics, age, and health. There are things you can do to speed up the healing process and minimize long-term damage.
One idea to help prevent a painful sunburn is to wear a hat that shades your face (some of the most sensitive skin on your body). Here are two excellent options from Banner & Oak.
If you spend any time outside, you’ll need to know how to prevent sun damage or how to get rid of a sunburn. Follow these eleven steps to make sure your sunburn heals quickly. And if you have more serious symptoms, talk to a medical professional.

You might be wondering: does wearing a hat cause baldness? The short answer is "no." Many things can contribute to hair loss. But if you're concerned about baldness, it helps to understand the causes of hair loss.
Most causes of hair loss are beyond your control. But there are a few things you can do to avoid exacerbating the balding process. These are the most common causes of hair loss in men and women.
The most common cause of hair loss is androgenic alopecia (or "male/female pattern baldness"). It's a genetic condition inherited from your mother that causes hair follicles to shrink over time.
Changes in hormones can lead to hair loss, especially for women. It often happens during pregnancy, childbirth, and menopause. Drops in estrogen and progesterone cause hair growth to slow down. In addition, hormonal imbalances caused by thyroid problems can slow down growth.
Skin diseases like lupus, psoriasis, ringworm, and fungal infections can cause hair to fall out. And inflammation from scalp infections will also slow down hair growth.
Hair loss can be a side effect of certain medications. It's known that cancer and HIV treatments cause hair to fall out. But hair loss can also be a side effect of medications treating heart disease, blood clots, arthritis, or high blood pressure.
Severe stress can lead to a condition called alopecia areata, where the immune system attacks hair follicles. Trauma can also shock the system to the point of temporary hair loss—a condition called telogen effluvium.
Some hairstyles can lead to a condition called traction alopecia, which causes temporary hair loss. It usually happens when the hair is pulled too tightly, as seen with ponytails, braids, or buns. Heat and chemical treatments can also damage hair follicles.
It's easy to think wearing a hat causes baldness since many bald people wear hats. But correlation isn't causation; most people wear them to cover their hair loss, not create it. So, does wearing a hat ever cause baldness?
On very rare occasions, wearing a hat too tightly can suffocate or pull on hair follicles, leading to temporary hair loss. But it's more likely that a tight hat will speed up the process of balding, not cause it. If you're predisposed to hair loss or have a skin condition, your hat can speed up the balding process if you wear it unreasonably tight. If your hat leaves a permanent indentation on your head when you take it off, it's time for a better fitting hat.
The obvious solution is to wear a comfortable, loose-fitting hat. Lucky for you, Banner & Oak has some stylish options that promise the perfect fit. Baldness be damned.
With the Evergreen hat, you'll never have to worry about your head becoming hot. This trucker hat offers a higher profile for a looser fit and a mesh back for a breezy feel. No matter how hard you try, the Evergreen won't suffocate your hair follicles.
If you want a comfortable classic hat, the Sierra is the answer. It's made with a lightweight poly-cotton blend, giving your head plenty of room to breathe. And with the Sierra's snapback closure, you'll get the right fit, saving your head from any unwanted pulling.
The Mojave hat offers ultimate comfort and unique style. It's made with feather-light cotton ripstop, letting air flow. The unstructured front panel gives the Mojave a rounded look without pulling or heat issues. And the snapback closure is the perfect finish for your custom fit.
Hopefully, we've been able to shine some light on this issue. Does wearing a hat cause baldness? No, it doesn't. You're free to sport that hat without a care in the world. Unless you're aiming for world peace, but that's another article for another day.
]]>First, you'll need to measure the circumference of your head using a tape measure or string. You'll use that measurement to find your hat size on a corresponding chart or guide.

]]>Whether you need to cover day-old hair, or you have plenty of time to style, wearing a hat is a great way to show off your individuality. Here are a few of the best ways for how to wear a hat with long hair.
Here are the best styles for men with long hair.
A classic look for men with long hair is to pull your hair into a loose bun, slip it through the hat's back closure, and secure it with an elastic band. This look works best on baseball caps and other hats with adjustable back closures. If you don’t want to sport the bun, you can tie it into a knot, a messy bun, or a foldover. Or you can let the ponytail hang loose. You may even get away with tucking the hair underneath the closure’s band and securing it. This style is a great way to get the hair out of your face and keep your neck cool on warm days.
The beanie is another great hat that shows off those luscious locks. The best way to wear a beanie is to pull it over your head, so your hair hangs out the bottom, framing your face. This style looks best with cuffless beanies, high-top beanies, and slouch beanies. If you don’t want hair near your face, you can tuck it behind your ears, sweep it to one side, or snake elastic bands throughout it (like a bumpy ponytail). No matter which style you choose, this look is the best way to show off that hard-earned man mane.
The Sierra hat from Banner & Oak is a versatile option you can wear with your hair up or down. It features an adjustable snapback closure for your bun or ponytail. The twill scout patch enhances the look, especially when your hair is down around your face or neck. The Sierra’s semi-structured design gives your face even more shape for a unique look that’s yours alone.
Here are the best styles for women with long hair.
One of the cutest looks for long hair is also the simplest. Run a comb through your beautiful locks, then pop that hat on. Presto, bingo, you look awesome. You can sport this look using almost any kind of hat, but it looks best with baseball caps and beanies. There are a few ways you can make the most of this style. You can let your hair hang au naturel under the hat, over your ears. Or sweep your hair over one or both shoulders and secure it with a small elastic band. You can even style your hair before putting the cap on, letting your loose rings frame your face. No matter how you do it, this classic look never goes out of style.
The most common choice for long locks is to tie your hair up into a loose ponytail, secure it with an elastic band, and tuck it through the hat's back closure. This style is best with baseball caps that have an adjustable closure on the back. But you can also position the ponytail just underneath the hat. For variety, you can also braid the hair, pull it into a loose messy bun, or place the ponytail (or bun) on the side. There are so many ways to wear this style; you’ll be coming up with new ideas all the time.
The Summit beanie hat from Banner & Oak is a great styling option for long hair. Let your loose hair flow out from the bottom of the adjustable cuff length. You can sweep the hair over your shoulder or spread it over your ears to frame your face. The Summit is a lightweight beanie for all seasons and features a debossed leather patch on the front.
Up, down, or somewhere in between, styling your long hair in a hat is the best way to rock those locks. We hope these styling options help you master how to wear a hat with long hair so you can look good every day of the week.

Besides the legal regulations, follow the seven Leave No Trace principles to be a good camper.

]]>You're likely familiar with sunburn symptoms: red skin, swelling, pain, blisters, and peeling. But, what causes sunburn, and can you get a sunburn in the shade?
A sunburn is an inflammatory reaction to ultraviolet (UV) radiation. Within about ten minutes, your body kicks into defense mode. The blood vessels under your skin dilate, making your skin turn red. Then your skin loses moisture, creating a tight feeling. And finally, the skin thickens and produces melanin to prevent UV rays from penetrating deeper layers. If UV rays penetrate those deeper layers, blisters will form, and your risk of skin cancer increases. After a few days, your body tries to rid itself of damaged skin, resulting in peeling.
The short answer is: yes.
Spending time in the shade reduces direct exposure to UV rays, but you're still vulnerable to indirect radiation. Even if you're lounging in a shaded area, UV rays bounce off reflective surfaces all around you. Water, sand, snow, concrete, glass, and other bright surfaces throw UV rays at you from all directions, making you susceptible to exposure. Even in the shade, you're exposed to as much as 84 percent of UV rays.
What about clouds? You can't get a sunburn on a cloudy day, right? Wrong. Clouds don't block all the sun's rays. Up to 80 percent of UV rays can penetrate clouds and damage your precious skin. Further, clouds tend to scatter UV rays, making you sensitive to indirect exposure.
Whether you're in direct sun, shade, or clouds, there are steps you can take to avoid sunburn and protect yourself from skin cancer.
One of the best ways to shield yourself from the sun is to wear a hat. Here are two excellent options from Banner & Oak.
This classic trucker hat is perfect for summer. It features a breezy mesh back panel and a lightweight visor. The poly-cotton blend keeps you cool in scorching temps and shields you from harmful rays. The Sierra comes in gray, royal, spruce, and tan.
Stay cool all day long with this low-profile hat. The featherlight cotton twill allows your head to breathe. And the flat visor protects you from sun damage. With the Switchback's rugged outdoor design, you can play outside in style.
Avoiding sunburn should be a top priority when you're spending time outdoors. Finding a shaded area will reduce your chance of getting a sunburn, but the question remains. Can you get a sunburn in the shade? By taking a few extra precautions, you can make sure your skin stays safe, even in shady places.

]]>The difference between a hat vs cap is one of semantics. A cap is a type of hat designed with specific features focused on comfort and essential style. The most significant difference between a hat vs cap is the type of crown and the option of a brim.
A hat is any round head covering with a shaped crown and a brim. Hats come in a variety of shapes and sizes and serve many purposes.
Popular hat styles include:
The beach hat (or sun hat) — A cute, floppy hat that shelters beachgoers from harmful sun rays. Audrey Hepburn and Taylor Swift are known for their beach hats.
The bowler hat (or derby hat) — A rounded hat designed for horse jockeys. Charlie Chaplin always wore bowler hats.
The fedora hat (or trilby hat) — An iconic hat that gives men and women of every age a vintage touch. Frank Sinatra and Johnny Depp made the fedora a trendy choice.
As mentioned above, hats have two defining features: the crown and the brim. So, let's learn a bit more about them.
A crown is the dome-shaped part of a hat that sits on top of your head. Most hats are recognized by the shape of their crown. For example, fedora hats have teardrop-shaped crowns. Western hats feature a crease at the top. And many hats come with boxy crowns, like the bucket hat or top hat.
Most hats include a brim that circles the entire hat for sun protection or added style. Bowler hats are accentuated with a small brim around the crown, where beach hats have an oversized brim. Some styles have a partial brim (also known as a visor), like the ascot or baseball cap.
There's a hat for every occasion and persuasion. Two of the most popular hat styles of the 21st century have been the baseball cap and beanie.
A cap is the second main style of headwear, which, like a hat, can be identified by the presence of two distinctive features. Caps are styled with a fitted, unshaped crown and most have a visor at the front instead of a full brim. Again, as with hats, there are several different types of caps, each with its own unique design.
The baseball cap is the most ubiquitous example and comes in a few different styles. This category of hat is where Banner & Oak shines.
The snapback cap — this a baseball cap with an adjustable closure on the back for a custom fit. The Sierra is a great example of a snapback cap. It has an adjustable plastic closure to make sure you get the right fit.
The fitted cap — this a cap without any adjustable closure.
The high-profile cap — has a crown height over four inches, so it sits higher on your head. The Alpine is a good example of a high-profile hat with a structured front panel.
The low-profile cap — this rests directly on your head, with little (or no) space between your head and the top of the cap. Check out the Scrambler for a great example of a low-profile fit. One popular low-profile hat is the dad hat, with an unshaped, fitted crown and a curved brim. The other popular example is the beanie, which fits snugly against your head and folds over itself for a perfect fit (instead of featuring a visor). The Range shows you how stylish a beanie can be.
And there's the ever-popular trucker cap — this is a high-profile snapback with a structured front panel and a mesh back. The Rockhopper is the quintessential trucker cap.
Generally speaking, there isn’t a literal, physical difference between the two. A cap is considered a type (or category) of hat. So, the difference between a hat vs cap comes down to individual terminology. The word "hat" refers to any hat that covers your head, with many styles boasting a brim or visor. A "cap" is a hat that comes in a specific set of styles, with an unshaped crown and (usually) a visor in the front.
If you're looking for a formal, authoritative hat that shows distinction, check out the many hats worn over the decades. If you prefer a casual look that screams comfort and style, a Banner & Oak cap may be the choice for you.
]]>Low profile hats, like the popular dad hat, fit snugly around your head. They're great for smaller heads. But if you're looking for a roomier, more casual fit, then a high profile hat is perfect for you. These Banner & Oak high profile hats give you a light, breezy fit and are ideal for any adventure.
The Banner & Oak Rockhopper hat is the ultimate solution for long hikes in the backcountry. You don't have to worry about overheating or trapping sweat. This high profile hat comes with a roomy front panel that maintains its shape no matter what you're doing. And it features a mesh back, giving your head plenty of space to breathe and stay cool at any temperature. The Rockhopper hat comes in black and teal.
The Banner & Oak Sierra hat is an excellent option for climbers on the crag. Made with durable, lightweight material, this high profile hat keeps the sun out of your eyes without sacrificing your view. The protective brim gives you ample shade. With a comfortable fit and snapback closure, you won't have to make adjustments to your hat, leaving your hands free to reach for that next anchor. The Sierra hat is made in the USA and comes in a variety of colors.
The Banner & Oak Mojave hat is perfect for a day on the dunes. You'll hardly notice the desert heat with this high profile hat made with lightweight ripstop material. It's breathable, spacious, and durable, allowing you to enjoy the dog days in comfort. It features a woven rope detail for classic vintage style and an unstructured front panel that moves and shifts with ease.
The Banner & Oak Horizon hat is the epitome of function meets fashion. With a stylish design and prominent crown, you'll look good no matter what you're doing. Whether you're snowshoeing, mountain biking, or fishing by day, you can transition to happy hour without skipping a beat. With unparalleled style, it catches attention wherever you go. It's the definitive all-in-one hat for all your favorite activities. The Horizon hat comes in black and olive.
It's essential to know the difference between a high profile hat and a low profile hat so that you can get the perfect fit for your head. If you want a snug fit that feels secure, you may want to look into a low profile option. But if you're looking for a lightweight, roomy fit that offers comfort and protection in any condition, consider a high profile hat from Banner & Oak.
If you have a close relationship with your Banner & Oak hat, there’s a good chance it’s due for a cleaning. The best way to make sure your hat stands the test of time is to clean it with a toothbrush. Follow these easy steps to keep your hat looking and functioning like a champ.
Before you clean a hat with a toothbrush, make sure the fabric is safe to clean. For example, a wool hat requires special detergent that's safe to use on wool (like Woolite). You can clean most hats with mild soap or detergent, but always check first.
Your hat might have stains that won't come out with mild soap. The sweatband is a common place for hard-to-clean spots. Sweat, body oils, and products (like sunscreen and makeup) build up over time. You can get those stains out of your hat with a toothbrush and stain remover.
Please note: If you don't want to use harsh cleaners, you can create a natural stain remover by mixing four tablespoons of baking soda with ¼ cup of water.
There's nothing sadder than a tired old hat on its last legs. By mastering how to clean a hat with a toothbrush, your hat will look brand-spankin' new in no time.
]]>Most Banner & Oak hats include adjustable features for a more comfortable fit. But not all hats are created equal; some fit snugger than others, making them excellent for small heads. Merry Mac’s hosts loads of amenities, making it a premier option for yurt camping Winsconsin. It has a general store, laundry facility, game room, WiFi, large playgrounds, dunk tank, as well as all the living amenities needed to live comfortably within a yurt.
Also located near Lake Wisconsin, Baraboo Hills Campground describes itself as “your home away from home” and a place to “take in all the excitement of the Wisconsin Dells, natural beauty of Devil’s Lake State Park…” This is certainly made more possible by experiencing one of Baraboo’s cozy yurts! Each yurt contains a plethora of amenities like twin bunks, futons, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, table and chairs, etc.

S’mores Campground is located just outside of Waupaca on Old Taylor Lake. The campground is popular for its ideal location amid many lakes, festivals, towns, and activities. Campers, for example, have the opportunity to experience the WauKing Trail during their stay. Popular activities include swimming, canoeing, fishing, boating, and even horseback riding.
The yurts at S’Mores Campground contain the resources required (including even A/C!) for comfortable yurt dwelling. Outside your 16’ diameter home, you get to enjoy a grill and seating area.
Wisconsin is not short of yurt camping opportunities. The experience of staying in a yurt edges on magical; these structures, ancient in their architecture, provide an upgraded, aesthetically pleasing way to experience a more comfortable side of camping.
Note that depending on the season, Wisconsin can get very chilly. We suggest bringing along a reliable beanie such as the Summit beanie or the Range beanie. ]]>Rather than letting dirt settle more permanently into your new, beloved hat, use the tips in this article to learn how to wash a hat with a hat cage.
Learning how to wash a hat with a hat cage is easy—and don’t worry! Despite the amount of filth your hat has collected, it’s likely not dirty beyond return.
]]>Learning how to wash a hat with a hat cage is easy—and don’t worry! Despite the amount of filth your hat has collected, it’s likely not dirty beyond return.
Many hat cages are advertised as being for baseball cap-style hats—but they’ll work for your Banner & Oak trucker hats as well.
There are a couple of popular ways to use hat cages. So read on, educate yourself on each option, and choose the one most fitting for your scenario.
When wondering how to wash a hat with a hat cage, most people eventually turn to their dishwashers—and for good reason.
The process of washing your hat with a hat rack in a dishwasher is easy. Simply place your hat in the hat cage (to do this, follow the instructions for whichever hat cage you have) and place your hat (now in the cage) on the top rack of your dishwasher. Placing it on the very top is key. You should NOT place it on any other lower levels of the dishwasher.
Next, add normal dishwasher detergent, avoiding fancy lemon detergents that contain citric acid and other stuff that could potentially harm your hat. Wash the hat on a normal or light cycle. We recommend ensuring the hat is the only thing in the dishwasher.
When finished, leave the hat in the hat cage to dry.
Though it’s less recommended than using a dishwasher, a washing machine may have to suffice. After all, not everyone has dishwashers in their homes.
The challenge for this is ensuring you have the proper type of washing machine. A top-loading (non-tumble-type) washer machine is recommended to make this work. If you don’t have this type of washer machine, try asking a friend (perhaps they have a dishwasher, too!).
Place your hat in the cage. Place the cage (with the hat now inside) into the washer. Put a few clothing items inside with the hat (lightweight items only). Do not wash the hat with a full load of laundry. Pour over normal laundry detergent and wash on a gentle cycle.
When finished, leave the hat in the hat cage to dry. Do NOT put the cage/hat in the dryer.
If you landed here because you were wondering how to wash a hat with a hat cage, well, we hope to have enlightened you. It’s a pretty simple process, and a satisfying one to keep your hats clean after your outdoor adventures.
Enjoy your clean hat, and enjoy your arrival at the next trailhead!

We recommend our steel camper mug, the perfect vessel for your cocktail in the evening as well as your morning cup of coffee.
No drink is more classic to share around the campfire than a bottle of whiskey. In the fall when the temperatures drop at night, there is nothing better to keep you warm that a blazing fire and a mug full of this hot toddy recipe. Not only will this nightcap keep you warm before you head off to your tent but it also has medicinal qualities. The combination of lemon and honey will be sure to give your immune system a boost even when spending ample time in the outdoors.
For one hot toddy:
For those muggy summer nights when it's so hot you don’t even pack your sleeping bag, this sangria is sure to cool you off. If you are a culinary expert, feel free to combine this at the campsite but I like to prep my Sangria the day before to give it time to soak up the flavor and then pack it in my favorite mason jar to enjoy at the campsite!

If you are more of a beer drinker this is the camping cocktail for you! Perfect for those nights camped out on the coast or beside the lake, a shandy is both refreshing and super simple.
The key here is to pick the right beer, we recommend picking up a pilsner or light lager.

Located just north of Moab in Utah, Arches camping is extremely ideal for locals of Spanish Valley, Castle Valley, and Moab—but is well worth the journey for anyone in Utah and even travelers from out of state.
Devils Garden Campground is an awe inspiring desert landscape located within the park. This Arches camping site is a beautiful option for camping among the very geological features hikers and campers go to Arches for—the arches themselves. The campground is located pretty much in the middle of the park (about 17 miles north of the park’s entrance and only 23 miles from Moab).
Among the cacti, junipers, and pinyon pine at Devils garden, you’ll enjoy the choice of tent or RV camping. Some amenities include drinking water and fire pits. Dogs are definitely allowed, but be sure to check with park staff about rules pertaining to pets in the park.
Willow Springs is a free dispersed camping spot located immediately west of the park. This Arches camping is ideal for campers who’ve just driven far and wish to get a fresh start at the park first thing in the morning. The land is a beautiful desert landscape with rock formations, distant mountain views, and stunning sunrises and sunsets.
At Willow Springs, campers choose from tent or RV camping. This is dispersed camping, so water, tables, and other amenities are unavailable. Make-shift fire rings mark some of the idyllic spots, and campers are free to make fires in these. Make sure to show up before the sun sets as these spots are well known and this campground can get crowded in the peak season. Pets are allowed!
Fish Towers Campground is located off the 128 near the Colorado River (approximately 25 miles away from the park entrance). The grounds are named after the stunning, grand, tower-shaped rock formations. Many campers who visit Fish Towers remark that they’ve never seen anything like it!
Spots are limited and reported costs are 10-20 dollars a night. Fire rings and benches mark the sites at this Arches camping, and campers can choose between RV camping or tent. Pets and fires are allowed, but you won’t find much in the way of other amenities.
Goose Island Campground is also off of the 128, but is closer to both Arches National Park and the Colorado River than Fish Towers Campground. This site is also very close to Moab.
Here, campers enjoy lake front camping, plenty of camping opportunities, as well as the option to mountain bike, river raft, or take four-wheel drive tours. Some sites are shaded by trees and contain grass-areas. Amenities include fire grates, picnic tables, and vault toilets.
Finally, we have Castleton Tower, a great spot for Arches camping located off the 96 near Castle Valley, located a 30 minute drive from the park. The Castleton Tower itself is a magnificent geographical monument. Precisely, it’s a 400-foot Wingate Sandstone tower atop a 1,000 foot Moenkopi-Chinle cone.
This tent-only campground is located in viewing range of the Castleton Tower. As one expects with dispersed camping, amenities are limited-to-none and sites are available on a first-come first-serve basis. Dogs and fires are both allowed within the grounds.
We found Arches National Park so inspiring we designed a hat after it, wear it on your visit to shade your face from Utah's sun and heat. This hat will be sure to remind you of Arches long after your visit and is a great conversation starter for fellow fans of this iconic destination.
]]>Once you bring your firebiner out into the woods, you’ll never want to be without it again. Many campers, after experiencing the handiness of these compact utility tools, always keep them on hand whenever they are in the outdoors.
Anyways, you’re about to find out more precisely why firebiners are such revolutionary little gadgets. Enjoy these 5 uses (including starting fires) of a firebiner, as well as why we suggest you carry a firebiner out on your next camping adventure.
A fire starter is an important tool to have out on a camping adventure. While a simple lighter may seem intuitive at first, it can easily get lost in your pack. Campers love the clip-able accessibility of the firebiner which allows them to quickly grab it from a belt loop or backpack strap instead of having to sift around in their pack for a lighter.
The everspark wheel on our firebiner sends sparks flying and is intended to be used with kindling (think tinder quik, tissue, or jute) to get a good flame going before adding larger kindling and eventually wood.
Hikers are advised to have back up gear at all times in case they get stuck in a storm or injure themselves in the backcountry. Although you may not pack a sleeping bag on every trip, I recommend keeping a firebiner clipped to your backpacking pack or day hiking pack at all times. Having a fire starter could be your best bet for getting clean boiled water or preventing hypothermia in a sticky situation.
Simple but fun, the firebiner has a bottle opener on it! We know what you’re all doing around the campfire (drinking!) at night. A firebiner bottle opener is convenient for good times around the fire, and it just feels cool to have one on hand when someone needs it.
Our firebiner comes with a stainless steel safety blade—great for cutting fishing line, string, paracord and more.
Gone fishing? Hang your firebiner off of your belt loop or pack for instant access to the efficient safety blade. It’s nice to have direct access to such a tool while fishing, especially once you have a fish in your slimy hands.
The safety blade can also be used for cutting things around camp such as snack bags, firewood wrap, and other packages or containers.
From prying open cans to reaching the battery compartments of flashlights, a screwdriver is an often forgotten yet necessary tool to have out in the woods.
Access to a small, handy screwdriver is another reason among many to always have a firebiner on you.
Many people like using their firebiner as a base to their key holder. Also, the firebiner is great for hanging off belt loops. Keep your essentials on a firebiner so it is also closeby and ready to use.
Visiting these lands invokes both adventure and serenity. The Great Smoky Mountains are one-of-a-kind; there’s no other place like them on the planet. Cataloochee campground is a tent-only campground located within Smoky Mountain National Park. Being a relatively remote portion of the park, many wish to camp in the Cataloochee Valley alongside the elk and clean mountain streams.
Campers arrive here for more of a traditional, wild-feeling camping experience—but with the convenience of much appreciated amenities. These include toilets (that flush) and drinking water. Campers also enjoy quick access to nearby hiking trails and fishable streams. Note that there are no showers in camp.
Located 17 minutes from downtown Knoxville, this private glamping near Great Smoky Mountains National Park is a luxurious way to get out into nature. The campground hosts provide brand-new canvas tents, all of which contain 2 twin beds, a wood burner, as well as a patio and chairs. Camping like this among the trees is a balanced and much desired method for many.
Other amenities include access to comfortable bathrooms, shower & internet access, and most importantly - access to 55-acres of wildlife and mountain views!
Greenbrier campground is located directly outside the National Park. The campground hosts offer 120 full-hookup sites. From river-side, to forested accommodations, there’s plenty to offer for any mood. Also, both tent and RV camping are available.
Access to Flint Rock is undoubtedly the most popular attraction bringing campers to Greenbrier. Flint Rock is one of the greatest swimming holes in all of the Smokies. Campers at Greenbrier enjoy private beaches, fishing, and swimming at nearby banks.
As for the campground - it contains all the amenities you’d expect for hosting RV and tent campers: full hook-ups, WiFi, bathrooms, water, fire rings, and picnic tables.
This Great Smoky Mountains camping is located within the park near Abrams Creek and the 11-mile Cades Cove loop—both perfect for observing wildlife. The area is surrounded by mountains and provides some of the best opportunities for seeing animals. Critter sightings often include black bears, coyotes, groundhogs, turkeys, raccoons, and skunks.
Cades Cove, like Cataloochee, provides a primitive camping feel with modern conveniences such as bathrooms and drinking water. Other amenities include picnic tables, fire pits, and access to a general store.
]]>As with our line of hats, we’ll aim to provide hat storage ideas inspired by your passion for the outdoors. We hope these suggestions inspire adventure in you just as much as our Banner & Oak hats!
Sometimes wood designers incorporate the natural edge of wood into crafted surfaces. Sometimes it’s bark, sometimes it’s attractive cracks and grain designs. You may have seen this style of wood used as a kitchen countertop, coffee table, or even a shelf.
With the right size piece, there’s no reason why you can’t make a rustic, outdoor-looking hat rack from a live edge slab of wood. All you need is the cut itself and the hooks of your choice.
You can buy live edge wood at many DIY shops, find it second-hand on eBay or Craigslist, and even score some at a garage sale if you’re lucky. Most live edge wood is finished with polyurethane. If you happen to find a fresh, untreated piece, make sure to coat it up with some poly yourself.
Tree trunk hat stands are impeccable tools to add a sense of outdoorsiness to your home. They’re perfect for placing near the front door for easy access where they’ll always invite you back home with sweet gestures of natural feng shui.
Many of these hat storage options are ready-made and come in a vast variety of types, shapes, sizes, and more. Some even have unique live edge-looks and wild-looking vine-like branches wrapping around them.
As with anything, it’s entirely possible to create your own DIY tree trunk hat stand. It could be a bit challenging to find a dead trunk in the wild, but it’s possible. Another option is to collect thick, short (think stubby) branches and use them as hooks (by attaching them to a frame that you can fit on your wall).
This is a good hat storage option that can be either bought or made yourself.
Instead of utilizing simple planks of wood, consider hanging a couple of wooden skis up with some hooks for your hats. This look is especially brilliant for cabin and mountain homes.
Ever see old toboggans or sleds hanging around the walls of old or mountain homes? Well imagine attaching some hooks and making a fashionable hat rack out of that! It’s possible as well.
Overall, creating a satisfying hat rack comes down to using your imagination. These are a few good ideas to get you started, especially if you’re looking for something with a natural touch - a component that Banner & Oak will strive for whatever the craft may be.
Whether you go for the live edge look or the fashionable tree trunk rack, ensure you build/buy something you can imagine in your home for years to come. It’s there to transform the mundane task of grabbing and replacing hats into a charming ritual. Best of luck!
